This historic fort had a self walking tour. The docents shared with people who wanted to learn more. The cemetery contains famous people.
Overall, this was an enjoyable experience I would definitely recommend. I look forward to going back and seeing the place during the daylight too!
Great history lesson, very well done, authentic and the staff are very well educated and personable. We took our grand daughter here and we all left with new information.
I went for the Candlelight Christmas event at the park this past weekend. Even though it was dark and I couldn't see all the buildings, it was still a great place. The main buildings were decorated as they would have been in the 18th century and lit only by candles. There was a guide in each of the buildings to tell you all about life in that time period. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly. I especially liked that this was a "hands-on" park so you could really interact with your surroundings. In addition to the fort and additional houses nearby, there is also a museum telling you a bit about the history of the area.
We're having a fun time here as a family. It's affordable. The staff is knowledgeable and available.
The price is also very reasonable. The entrance fee is only $8 and you get full access to the grounds. If you like bicycling, the rail trail runs right through the park, as well.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, guides and reenactors. Wonderful educational experience. The blacksmith and his apprentice gave and excellent demonstration and presentation. The guided tour of Job Prickett's home was exceptional.
